What does "stabilized" mean?

The wood offered here has been enhanced through a highly sophisticated stabilization process. First, all air is removed from the wood using a vacuum. Then, a specially formulated resin is forced deep into the wood under pressure. This makes the material resistant to food juices, blood, sweat, and other liquids, making it highly hygienic and virtually maintenance-free.
