Description

1.5634 / 75Ni8 (1.5 × 40 × 500 mm)

1.5634 / 75Ni8 (1.5 × 40 × 500 mm) is a nickel-alloyed high-carbon steel with excellent all-round performance. It is highly suitable for forging, easy to machine, and takes an exceptional polish. It is the bright-etching component in our Damascus steel and is particularly well suited for fillet knives and other flexible blades.

Soft annealed

Chemical composition:

  • Carbon (C): 0.75%
  • Nickel (Ni): 2.00%
  • Manganese (Mn): 0.30%

Achievable hardness: ~60 HRC

Heat treatment:

  • Harden at 820°C (1508°F) and quench in oil.
  • Temper at 180°C (356°F) for 2 × 45 minutes.
